Important Program Registration Information

Registration for classes offered through Canton Leisure Services will begin on Wednesday, August 14 at 5 p.m. online at www.canton-mi.org/registerBe sure to take advantage of the Early Bird Discount and save 10% with code: EARLY10, where applicable from August 14-20. 

To prepare for registering with our new CivicRec registration system, past participants are asked to review and update their account information as soon as possible. To get started, please call the Summit on the Park at 734/394-5460 during regular business hours to request a login be emailed to you. Then, visit www.cantonfun.org and select Register for a Program and follow the directions on the site. Once completed, you will be able to register for classes and programs.  First time taking a Leisure Services class or program?  Just create your new account prior to registering. Walk-in registration will begin on August 21 at 10 a.m.  Don't delay and get ready to register today.  For additional information, visit www.cantonfun.org.

The latest edition of the Leisure Services Discover Brochure is now online and should have already arrived in your mailboxes.  Be sure to browse through it to find the perfect classes and programs for you and your family to take advantage of this fall and winter.  Canton residents & Summit members are encouraged to take advantage of our Early Bird discounts with code: EARLY10 on designated classes with online registration at www.canton-mi.org/register starting on August 14 at 5 p.m. Walk-in and Non-resident registration begins on August 21 at 10 a.m.  Don't delay, as many classes fill up quickly.

Summit Renovations and Annual Maintenance Shutdown

The Summit on the Park’s Aquatic Center will undergo minor renovations starting August 26 and will reopen for use on September 7 at 6 a.m.  Projects will include repairs to the Aquatic Center skylights, as well as re-coating of the Lazy River.  In addition, the Summit on the Park will close for its Annual Maintenance Shutdown beginning Monday, September 2 at noon and will re-open on Saturday, September 7 at 6 a.m. For more information, visit www.summitonthepark.org or contact the Summit front desk at 734/394-5460.

Tickets are still available for the Michigan Shakespeare Festival's 2019 season, currently in production now - August 18, at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road. Michigan Shakespeare Festival's  lineup includes: William Shakespeare’s "King Lear" and “The Two Gentlemen of Verona,” along with
Edmond Rostand’s "Cyrano de Bergerac". Ushers Needed for New Season

Canton Farmers Market

Be sure to stop by the Canton Farmers Market and show your support for our local farmers and vendors!  Located at 500 N. Ridge Rd., the Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 9 am – 1 pm rain or shine, until October 13.

This family-friendly market offers a wide variety of produce, foods, handmade items, and more.  The Market also offers weekly cooking demos, live entertainment, kids’ crafts, as well as Master Gardener seasonal topics. Plus, Canton Public Library Story Times will be held on August 4 and 25 at 10 a.m.  The popular Music with Ms. Carissa returns on August 25. T August themes and special entertainment include:

The B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center Gears Up for Fall

Canton’s popular After School Program offers a supervised, fun environment for teens ages 11-17, that includes: daily programming, tutoring, outreach, and recreation opportunities. Transportation services are also available.  This unique teen center encourages teens to gain hands-on experience with activities such as Teen TV, cooking, music, art, youth and teen council, and much more. The most impressive part of the program is witnessing the growth and confidence in each of its participants. For a tour and more information about what The B.L.O.C.K. Come celebrate Back to School Days at the Heritage Park Amphitheater, on Saturday, August 24 from 1-4 p.m. This free event, presented by Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and Canton Leisure Services, will offer a variety of student performances and showcases. In addition, local schools and community groups, clubs, and area resource centers will be onsite providing valuable information to position your children for success in the coming school year. Participants can also enjoy giveaways, food, games, and some great deals and Early Bird pricing for Fall Leisure Services classes and programs. Love Your Parks Virtual 5K 

The mParks Foundation is hosting a Virtual 5K (3.1 miles) during the month of September to raise funds for local recreation and park opportunities right here in Canton.  Participants can run, walk, skateboard, SUP, bike, surf or swim a 5K anytime during the month of September and
50% of your registration fee will go to the Canton Leisure Services to provide shade structures in Heritage Park. The remaining 50% will go to the mParks Foundation, which provides financial support to people and programs that work to enrich the health and well-being of all Michigan citizens through increased access to recreation and outdoor experiences. To date, the mParks Foundation has donated more than $3,000,000 to Michigan communities to build accessible playgrounds and waterparks. Information is attached and you can register at www.mparksfoundation.org/virtual-5k. 10th Annual Brew, Brats & Bands at the Barn

This popular fall event returns to Preservation Park on Saturday, September 7 from 6-9 p.m. Ages 21 and over are encouraged to attend this special fundraiser that will benefit the Canton Historical Society.  This unique beer tasting event, scheduled to take place at the Cady-Boyer Barn located at 500 N. Ridge Road, will include 7 beer tasting tickets to select from a wide variety of specialty craft beers, all-you-can-eat brats, and entertainment Tickets are $25 in advance through September 1 and $30 at the door.  Sponsors of this popular event include: Canton Leisure Services, Holiday Market, Liberty Street Brewing Company, Canton Brew Works, Alphgraphics, Auto-Owners Insurance, Edward Jones Investments, Kennedy Nemier Insurance Agency, Inc., Busch's Fresh Food Market, J.B.'s Smokehouse and Beefests.com.
