Canton's Liberty Fest Returns

Join us for three action-packed, fun-filled days when Canton's 28th Annual Liberty Fest returns to Heritage Park on Thursday, June 13 through Saturday, June 15.  in beautiful Heritage Park.  As always, entry into the festival grounds and parking are FREE! Canton’s largest community celebration continues its tradition of offering plenty of fabulous fun for all ages. Heritage Park is located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road, just west of Canton Center Road between Cherry Hill and Summit Parkway.  
Returning Favorites include: Canton's Taste of Liberty Fest and the Beer & Wine Garden will be located near the Amphitheater.  Stop by the Taste of Liberty Fest for signature menu items from area restaurants from 4 pm to dusk on Friday and from noon to 11 pm on Saturday. Two stages of live entertainment and a variety of family-friendly activities will be held throughout the festival. Carnival Armbands/Tickets
Discounted single-day wristbands are available for $24 and can be used for any full day if purchased online before June 13 at Noon. Wristbands will be available for purchase on-site for $28 on Thursday, $30 on Friday, and $30 on Saturday. Purchase a three-day all-ride Megaband for $60 – available ONLINE ONLY and must be purchased prior to June 13 at Noon.  Online sales require a $.99 per transaction fee. All sales are final.

Canton Liberty Run Returns
Lace up your sneakers and join us for the 8th annual Liberty Run 5K, 10K and 1 Mile Runs/Walks on Saturday, June 15. Leisure Services is once again teaming up with RF Events of Ann Arbor for this special fundraiser to benefit Canton trails. All races will start at the clock tower corner of Veterans Way and Civic Center Boulevard, located adjacent to the north end of the Canton Public Library parking lot. Participants are encouraged to run, walk or stroll the courses through neighborhood streets and the scenic Lower Rouge Trail. Race distances include a 5K race to begin at 8:00 a.m.; a 10K race to begin at 8:30 a.m.; and a One Mile Fun Run to begin at 10:15 a.m. Find all the fees and other details about this year's theme of Red, White and Blue or Superheroes! for these runs/walks at www.cantonlibertyrun.com.

Canton Summer Solstice Celebration

Area residents are invited to attend Canton’s Summer Solstice Celebration on Friday, June 21.  This FREE community event will be held from 7-9 p.m. near the Heritage Hideout Playscape in Heritage Park, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road, Canton, MI  48188.
 
All ages are encouraged to get the most out of the longest day of the year and enjoy an evening of fun in the late sun. Activities will include backyard games, such as: cornhole; 9 square; connect four; and more!  Additional activities include face painting, cool treats, crafts, and a DJ will also be onsite spinning family-friendly tunes. For more information, call 734/394-5460 

Summer Concerts

Thursday Night Live Concert Series 

Calling all music lovers!  Thursday Night Live Concert Series, sponsored by Community Financial Credit Union, is back with some exciting additions, including: weekly food trucks, a Beer and Wine Garden sponsored by Maraschino's Pub, Family Lawn Games and two Paint and Pours (July 18 and August 15 for $20).


These free concerts will be held every Thursday from June 27 through August 15 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Heritage Park Amphitheater, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road. No concert will be held on July 4. 

This year's lineup includes:

  • June 27: Serious Jack – Rock, Pop, Funk and Country favorites.
  • July 11: The Groove Party – From Sinatra to Classic Rock, Jazz, Motown, & more!
  • July 18: Killer Flamingos – All your favorite covers i
  • July 25: Shiny Penny – Classic Rock and Today’s Hits.

Community Connection Day

Area residents with disabilities and their families are invited to get know Canton Public Safety First Responders during this FREE event on Saturday, June 29, from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Canton Fire Station #1, located at 1150 S. Canton Center Road. Meet first responders including: Canton’s police officers, paramedics, firefighters and more. Community Connection Day participants of all ages will enjoy a hands-on public safety display. This program is presented in partnership with Canton Public Safety, Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, and Canton Therapeutic Recreation. For more information, call 734/394-5367.

Lilley Road Lower Rouge Trail Crossing Closed 

The Lower Rouge Trail Crossing at Lilley Road is now closed to all pedestrian traffic as a result of the reconstruction of the Lilley Road Bridge.  This trail crossing is expected to re-open by end of the year, 
 Barriers have been installed at the trail crossing for the safety of pedestrians. All trail users are asked to avoid this area for the duration of this construction project and should consider utilizing different sections of the trail.
