Annual Fishing Derby Returns

All ages are invited to take advantage of the chance to catch a big fish in Heritage Park this Saturday, May 5 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., when the ponds will once again be stocked with Rainbow Trout and hybrid bluegills.  Area residents are invited to take part in this annual event, where no fishing license is required. Make sure to bring your own fishing pole! A limited number of worms will be available for purchase, while supplies last. Registration fees are just $7 for Canton Residents and $9 Non-Residents and can be paid onsite the day of the event at the concession trailer near the large pond in Heritage Park; cash only please.  Registration includes a ribbon that allows the participant to take home up to three fish.  Find additional information here  or call 734/394-5460.

Canton Acts of Culture Week Currently Underway

Canton is once again focusing a spotlight on arts and culture during the 8th annual Canton Acts of Culture Week. This special week, presented by the Canton Commission for Culture, Arts and Heritage, runs May 12 - May 20, 2018 at various community locations. Some of the many goals of Canton's Acts of Culture Week include: showcasing community cultural resources and partnerships; celebrating diverse culture offerings; raising awareness of arts accessibility; instilling an appreciation of local arts organizations; and promoting the arts and heritage in and around the Canton community.  Find a complete schedule of events online and help celebrate the arts in Canton!

DIA Inside Out art installation at the Summit on the Park

DIA Inside|Out Comes To Canton

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) has recently installed ten reproductions of its most famous masterpieces from its current collection throughout the Canton community.  These outdoor installations will be on display now through early July, transforming the community into a grand open-air gallery featuring masterpieces installed at various locations – including a cluster on the campus of Heritage Park and a cluster in the Village District.  Find location details here and check out this informative video to learn more.  Additional information can be found at www.cantonfun.org. 

Rain Art Unveiled During Canton Acts of Culture Week

Starting May 12, make sure to check out the following locations next time it rains for some exciting and surprising artwork! Stop by: Summit on the Park, Canton Administration Building, The BLOCK Youth and Teen Center, The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, Canton Sports Center, Heritage Park’s Splash Playground, Cherry Hill School, Canton Public Safety and Sweetwaters Coffee and Tea. Fellows Creek Golf Club May Events

The staff at Fellows Creek Golf Club and Banquet love to host events throughout the year. Fellows Creek can host graduation parties, banquets, business meetings, weddings, and much more. In May, Fellows Creek will also host two in-house events: Mother’s Day Brunch and the Spring Senior Golf Scramble. The Mother’s Day Brunch will be held on Sunday, May 13, and will include a wide array of breakfast and lunch selections. This brunch will begin at 10 a.m. and will cost $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 5 to 12, and will be Free for children under 5 years of age. The Spring Senior Golf Scramble will take place on Thursday, May 24, with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m., and will cost $28 for public players or $25 for Canton Residents. This event is designed for individual players over the age of 55 to play 18 holes with the lowest two scores winning prizes. There will also be a closest-to-the pin contest, lunch served during the scramble, and snacks served after the round. Katherine's Catering To Host Mother's Day Brunch

On Sunday, May 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., come celebrate the special mothers in your life with a delicious brunch prepared by Katherine’s Catering at the Summit on the Park. Menu includes: Crème Brulee French Toast; Omelette Station; Cajun Brown Sugar Bacon; Assorted Spring Salands; Green Beans with Almonds: Carving Station: Four Cheese Macaroni and Cheese; and many more delicious options!  A cash bar will also be available.  Brunch prices are $25.95 per adult and $12.95 for children 6-10 years of age.  Kids 5 and under are free. Canton Farmers Market Regular Season Starts This Month

The first Farmers Market will kick off the season on Sunday, May 13 from 9am-1pm at Preservation Park, located at 500 N. Ridge Road, Canton. This open-air-market features a variety of Michigan grown and made food as well as hand crafted items. Buy local and learn how your food is grown or made while benefiting our local economy.  The Farmers Market will be held every Sunday through October 14, rain or shine. New this year!  Market-goers can enjoy special themed-markets.  Upcoming Market themes include:  May 13-Mother's Day (Moms will receive a free flower, while supplies last); May 20-Street Art/Artist Day; May 27-Honoring Veterans; and June 3-National Egg Day. In addition, the Master Gardner booth will hold its Perennial Plant Exchange May 13, 20, and 27. Visitors can bring a plant, take a plant, or take a plant and leave a small donation.  Plants must be in good shape and labeled, if possible.

'80s Dance Party: Second Chance Prom

Teen Movie Night in the Park for a Good Cause

Calling all Teens!  Come hang out in Heritage Park on May 11 from 8-10 p.m. during a special showing of "Jumanji, Welcome to the Jungle" (PG-13) by the Amphitheater stage. Admission is just $5 and all proceeds will benefit the Canton Youth Advisory Council Endowment Fund. Make sure to bring a chair or blanket. Concessions will also be available for purchase on site. Bark in the Park Returns

May 20 from 11am - 1pm

Dog owners and their pets are invited to Bark in the Park on Sunday, May 20 from 11am – 1pm.  Participants, along with their four-legged friends, can enjoy live entertainment as well as purchase merchandise and receive free give-a-ways from local pet supply and service vendors.  Both members of the Dog Park and non-members are encouraged to let their dogs experience this off-leash dog park during this free event.  This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the Canton Dog Park, meet other pet owners, and give dogs the opportunity to become more socialized.  Please note: Non-dog park members must show proof of up-to-date vaccination for Rabies and Distemper, which must be signed by an accredited veterinarian, as well as a Canton Dog License.  The Canton Dog Park is located at Denton Road, north of Cherry Hill.  

Senior Summit To Take Place May 30

Canton's annual Senior, which is traditionally held in September, will be held on Wednesday, May 30 this year.  Scheduled renovations taking place at the Summit on the Park this fall necessitated a change in the date. As always, this year's event will offer:  vendor exhibits; health screenings; several presentations; goody bags; lunch and Bingo.  A light breakfast will also be provided.  Participants do not a ticket for this year's event: however, registration is required.  Tickets are going fast, so contact Canton Club 55+ at 734/394-5485 to register today!  Find additional information here.

2018 Liberty Festival Coming Attractions

June 14-16

Canton's annual summer tradition is fast approaching and will be held this year starting Thursday, June 14 through Saturday, June 16 on the grounds of Heritage Park, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Canton Center Road. This year's 27th annual event will feature three fun-filled days of great festival entertainment, exciting rides and Midway games, delicious food featuring a Taste of Liberty Festival, as well as a variety of food trucks, a spectacular fireworks display, and much, much more! Festival-goers who can't get enough of their favorite carnival rides can purchase discounted ride wristbands online now through Thursday, June 14 at Noon. The Megaband will give you unlimited access to all wristband approved rides, during all three days of the event, for just $60.  Megabands can only  be purchased in advance online. Single Day unlimited ride wristbands that are valid for any one day are $23 each online before the Festival and at the carnival will cost $27 for Thursday, $30 for Friday, and $30 on Saturday.  All discounted wristband online sales will end on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Noon.

National Trails Day Celebration

Fasting 5K To Benefit The BLOCK Youth & Teen Center

Get excited for the Ramadan event of the year that will help support The BLOCK Youth and Teen Center! Ten cities and hundreds of athletes will embrace the spirit of the month by fasting, fundraising, and building community for good through this annual 5K event, which will take place at the Muslim Community of Western Suburbs at 40440 Palmer Road, Canton, MI 48188.
