14th Annual Turkey Trot 

Work up an appetite for a good cause Thanksgiving morning by running or walking in Canton Leisure Services 14th annual Turkey Trot for a Cause on Thursday, November 24. All ages are encouraged to join us in the fight against epilepsy by taking part in this chip-timed 5K event that will benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. The race is set to start at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway, and will cover a picturesque, flat course that winds through beautiful Heritage Park and Pheasant Run Golf Course ending. Summit Birthday Party Discounts

The Summit on the Park is currently offering anyone who registers for swim lessons from now through June 16, 2017, will be eligible for a 10% discount on a Summit on the Park Birthday Party.  Party must be scheduled within the time frame listed above in order to receive discount. This 10% discount is only available for Birthday Party services paid in advance and not valid on services paid for the day of the party.  To qualify for discount, Birthday Party recipient must be enrolled and participate in swim lessons from during offer timeline. Zumba Party

Zumba® Party at the Summit

Dance to your heart’s content during Canton’s annual Zumba® Party that will be held on Saturday, November 12 from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m. at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway. Admission to this annual event is just $5 that can be paid at the Summit front desk.  Those who like to Zumba® and those who've never tried it are welcome to join the dance party. Zumba® fitness classes fuse Latin, Pop and Hip Hop music together with easy-to-follow moves to create a unique workout experience. All ages are welcome. Salute To Service event in Canton, MI

Annual Salute To Service Event

On Friday, November 11, Canton will continue its tradition of honoring area servicemen and women during our “Salute to Service” event at The Village Theater. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m. This year's featured speaker will be U.S. Army Sgt. Dewey Smith, a Vietnam Veteran who was one of the last eight soldiers of B Company who was rescued via helicopter by U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Charles Kettles on May 15, 1967. This special presentation will include video interviews of Lt. Col. Charles Kettles, who recently fell ill after being awarded the Medal of Honor, the nation’s highest military decoration, by President Barack Obama at the White House for his life-saving efforts rescuing soldiers.  

Additionally, items for service men and women will be collected for the Michigan Military Moms, including: disposable hand and foot warmers; foot and body powder; Q-tips; Beef Jerky; hot chocolate mix; wipes; granola/power bars; and monetary donations to offset postage. Canton's International Festival

International Festival at Village Theater

Travel the globe during Canton’s International Festival returns on Saturday, November 19 at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill. This cultural and educational festival will be be held from 11:30 am – 5:00 pm, and will offer participants entertainment and experiences celebrating diverse customs and traditions on The Village Theater’s main stage, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road. Countries represented this year, include: China, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Polynesia, Tahiti, and the United States.  Numerous cultural exhibits will be featured in our lobby and cultural items will be available for purchase during the event.  Enjoy an International Sweets Table where favorite International desserts from Metro Area shops and Bakeries will be available. This event is presented by the all-volunteer Multicultural Committee of Canton Commission for Culture, Arts and Heritage.  Bring the whole family! Tickets are just $2 at the door. Pheasant Run Golf Season Winds Down

Get your final golf rounds in before the weather turns! Fall rates are currently in effect at Pheasant Run.  Enjoy 18 holes Monday through Friday for $36 per person with a cart and on Saturday and Sunday for $45.  Senior rates Monday through Friday are $28. Letters to Santa

It's getting closer to that special time of year when little ones want to get their letters to Santa Claus at the North Pole.  Once again, Canton Leisure Services has made special arrangements with the U.S. Post Office to deliver your wish list to Santa. To mail your letter to Santa, please drop it in our North Pole Express Mailbox in the Summit on the Park lobby now through November 30. Santa asks that you print your name and address clearly so he may reply to your letter. Each household will receive a return letter and Santa will take care of the postage. Breakfast with Santa Returns

Bring the entire family to the Summit on the Park to enjoy a wonderful breakfast with Santa Claus, Saturday, December 3, from 9-11 a.m. During the breakfast, kids can share their wish list with Santa, create a winter craft, and enjoy a Christmas story time. All children will receive a holiday souvenir, crayons, and place-mat. Parents are encourage to bring a camera. Online registration is not available. Tickets must be purchased in advance at the Summit on the Park during normal business hours. Tickets are on sale now through December 1. Ticket prices for ages three and under are $4.25 for Canton Residents and $5.25 Non-Residents; 4-12 year olds are $15.25 for Residents and $18.25 for Non-Residents; ages 13 and up are $19.25 for Residents and $23.25 for Non-Residents.  Seating is reserved by table location only on a first-come, first-serve basis.  For additional information, call 734/394-5460

Annual Tree Lighting

Canton's Annual Tree Lighting Celebration

This year's Tree Lighting event promises to be bigger and better than ever. Join us on Wednesday, December 7 from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. for a special evening of family fun. The ‘official’ tree, sponsored by Toll Brothers, will be lit by the Summit on the Park at 6:30 p.m. and special festivities will take place both indoors and outdoors.  Join us for live reindeer, seasonal entertainment, kids’ crafts, activities, a holiday artisan and vendor marketplace for shopping, refreshments, and visits with Santa!  No pre-registration necessary as wristbands are sold on site. Fees are $3 for Canton residents and $4 for non-residents. New this year, pre-purchase non-refundable wristbands at the Summit Front Desk from November 23 through December 6 at 10:00 p.m. for $2.50 for Canton residents and $3.50 for non-residents.  For additional information, visit www.cantonfun.org.

The Detroit Circus

The Detroit Circus To Perform at Canton's Village Theater 

Come one, come all to see the Detroit Circus next month for a special New Year’s Eve show on Saturday, December 31, at 7 p.m., that the whole family will enjoy.  Be thrilled as theses talented performers dazzle you with their high flying aerial antics on fabric and trapeze, fire dancing and eating, stilt walking and acrobatics, contortion, juggling, feats of mind-bending strength and acro-balance, as well as a variety of circus sideshow acts. Registration for Spring Boys Lacrosse is now open at the Canton Sports Center.  No experience necessary.  With limited spots available, players are encouraged to register before December 31, 2016. You can board the ExpressRide from a free, convenient Park & Ride lot right in Canton. There are so many benefits of ExpressRide. It lets you forget about parking, traffic, and pollution, and the buses have free Wi-Fi and comfortable seating. When boarding the bus, have your pass, ticket or cash fare ready for the driver. How much does it cost? A one-way cash fare is $6.25. However, if you ride regularly, you can purchase a ten-ride ticket for $62.50 or a 30-day commuter pass for $125.
