Summit on the Park News and Membership Special 

Beginning Monday, September 5 at Noon, the Summit on the Park will close for its Annual Maintenance Shutdown and will re-open on Saturday, September 10 at 6 a.m. 

Back-to-School Summit Membership Special

Bartlett's Family Fun Day at the Summit
September 17, 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Children ages 2-12 are invited to help us celebrate Bartlett the Beaver's Birthday on Saturday, September 17 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Join us for an afternoon of fun activities, including: cupcake decorating, bounce house, crafts, birthday games and prizes.  An Open Swim will also follow the event from 1:30-5:30 p.m., so remember to bring along your suit and towel! Don’t miss this special event at the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway.  This special event is free for Summit members and just $3 for Canton Residents and $4 for non-residents.  Pre-registration is required  For additional information, call 394-5460. 

Fit Family Challenge

Canton Leisure Services invites families to start the new School Year off on the right foot by taking the Fit Family Challenge! Commit to stay fit together and sign up today for this FREE program.  Awesome activities and opportunities to win cool prizes and incentives await participating families. Join us at our Kick-Off event on Friday, September 23 from 6:30-8:30 pm in Heritage Park.  Come prepared to take the "Pre-Test" and enjoy some Pokemon fun!  Then, join us each month for special Fit Family Challenge activities.  Program "graduates" can show off their new endurance and stamina next June during the 2017 Liberty Run!  Activities welcome all abilities, ages, and fitness levels!  For more information about this free family program, call 734/394-5460. 


You're Invited to Our BLOCK Party

September 9
Canton’s premier Youth and Teen Center is hosting a Free Open House and Block Party on Friday, September 9, from 6:30 - 10 p.m.  Plenty of family-friendly activities are scheduled to take place in The BLOCK parking lot, located behind the Canton Administration Building (the building’s west side). The evening festivities will include: refreshments, prizes, basketball and Dodge ball games, and more. Plus, a DJ will be onsite providing Karaoke opportunities. Party-goers are encouraged to tour the Teen Center and check out all of its amenities, including: foosball, video games, computer lab with internet, The BLOCK café, lounge, quiet study room, pool table, and more! B.L.O.C.K. Youth and Teen Center

Canton’s popular After-School and Summer program is available to all teens ages 11-17 and features daily programming, tutoring, outreach, and recreation opportunities. This unique teen center encourages teens to gain hands-on experience with activities such as teen TV, cooking, music, art, youth and teen council, and much more. Canton Leisure Services is once again hosting a special fundraiser that will benefit the Canton Historical Society. Event sponsors include:  Holiday Market; Liberty Street Brewing Company; Canton Brew Works; Cueter Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram; Alaphagraphics; and BeerFests.com to host its annual Brew, Brats, & Bands at the Barn fundraiser on Saturday, September 10 from 6 - 9 p.m. at Preservation Park, 500 N. Ridge Road.
Each 21 and over attendee can choose from a wide variety of specialty beers. Participants will also receive a commemorative mug while supplies last. Entertainment will be provided by “The Dale Hicks Band” and “All Directions.”  Tickets are $25 if purchased by September 4 and $30 at the door. A Designated Driver ticket is $10. Freedom Park's Pickleball Courts

Freedom Park Pickleball Courts Grand Opening!

Tuesday, September 13 at 12:30 p.m.
The public is invited to celebrate the grand opening of the Freedom Park Pickleball Courts during a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, September 13 at 12:30 p.m.; weather permitting.  These courts were funded as a community benefit through a capital contribution from Pulte Homes for Grandview Estates. Freedom Park’s Pickleball Courts are located on the southwest corner of Sheldon and Palmer Roads.  Extremely popular with seniors, this fun game is now gaining fans of all ages across the country.  Come and find out what this popular sport is all about!  For additional details, call 734/394-5360.

Be sure to stop by the Canton Farmers Market and show your support for our local farmers and vendors!  Located at 500 N. Ridge Rd., the Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 9 am – 1 pm rain or shine, until October 16.  This family-friendly market offers a wide variety of produce, foods, handmade items, and more.

Summit on the Park is now hiring lifeguards and swim instructors. Flexible hours available in all shifts - great for college students or second job seekers. Not trained? Leisure Services Five Year Master Plan Public Hearing

The Canton Leisure Services Five Year Master Plan is currently available for public review on the Canton website Hard copies of the Master Plan are also available for review at: Canton Public Library, 1200 S. Canton Center Road; Summit on the Park front desk, 46000 Summit Parkway; and Canton Leisure Services Administration Office, 1150 S. Canton Center Road.  All community comments can be submitted to Canton Leisure Services via email to leisure@canton-mi.org or else hand-delivered or mailed to 1150 S. Canton Center Road, Canton, MI  48188.  All comments must be received prior to September 16, 2016.  Presentation of the Five Year Master Plan Draft will be given to the Canton Township Board during a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 11, 2016.  For additional information, call 734/394-5360.
