This Month on Display at THE GALLERY@VT:August 2021 Exhibition features photography of Jack Kenny
Exhibition Title: Cuba....25 Years Exhibition Dates: Now through August 30, 2021
Artist Jack Kenny’s current exhibition captures photos that examine modern-day life in Cuba over the last 25 years. These stunning works include color and black and white images from his numerous trips to Cuba, where Kenny fell in love with everything about the island and its people. Featured artist Jack Kenny is a commercial photographer, who has been shooting photographic nudes for more than 40 years. Kenny started photographing Cuba in April of 1996 and has traveled to the island more than 70 times since his first trip. His first project was Cuba-photo.com, which is a free-use website for educators and students that is aimed at imaging Cuba at the street level. Kenny's goal was to help end the embargo and to give people a more honest look at life in Cuba than what is generally presented in the U.S. Over the years, Kenny has had numerous one-man and group shows of his work which include extensive photo documentation of Cuba. Kenny also publishes a regular street fashion page in his hometown of Ann Arbor, MI, on Facebook called ‘Ann Arbor Street Photography’. This art exhibit at the Gallery@VT is free and open to the public during gallery hours: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m.; or by special appointment arranged via email to elli.fassois@canton-mi.org.
