Summit Anniversary

So much is happening in Canton this winter! Check out some of the exciting events coming up for February.  

Summit 20th Anniversary Community Celebration

The entire Canton Community is invited to join us in celebrating 20 years of our great facility on Sunday, February 28 from 1:30-6:00 p.m.  Stop by the Summit on the Park, located at 46000 Summit Parkway, to partake in all the festivities including fun "Under the Big Top" for children in the gym with carnival games, a magician, and more from 1:30-4pm! There will also be a free open swim from 1:30-5:30pm. Free food and refreshments will be available as well (while supplies last), plus raffles and giveaways (including the chance to win an Annual Individual Membership).
All ages are then invited to the Summit Re-Dedication Ceremony beginning at 4 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom followed by special entertainment featuring: Dueling Pianos, refreshments, and a cash bar.  Free entry to the building will be available during these times.  With all the festivities planned for our special community celebration, there's sure to be something for everyone.  Come help us celebrate 20 Years of health, wellness, and family fun in the Canton community. Canton Farmers Market

Winter Markets return to Summit banquet lobby

The first of three monthly Winter Markets will be held on Sunday, February 28 in the Summit on the Park lobby, located at 46000 Summit Parkway. Markets are also scheduled for March 20 and April 17 at the Summit; all with special winter market hours from 10 am - 2 pm. Over a dozen local vendors will be featured at the Market.

Michigan goods available include: baked goods, farm-raised meats and bread, produce and more. Additional information is available here, as well as www.facebook.com/cantonfarmersmarket.

Lip Sync Battle

Canton Lip Sync Contest Announced

Canton will host its first Epic Lip Sync Battle at the Village Theater on Saturday, April 30 at 7 pm. This event is brought to you by the Canton Youth Advisory Council, which is comprised of 20 high school students who are dedicated to promoting youth and serving the Canton community. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door or online at the Village Theatre. The Lip Sync Battle is for all ages and allows entry as a solo act or with a group. Entry fees are $10 for a solo act and $15 for a group.

Judging will be based on creativity, appropriateness, movement/dancing and more. Cash prizes will be awarded to the top solo act and top group act. The remaining proceeds will go to the Canton Youth Advisory Council’s endowment fund which allows the council to grant money to other area youth organizations in need. Ben Daniels Band to perform at Village Theater
Experience an evening of high-energy rock and roll when The Ben Daniels Band takes the stage at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill on Saturday, February 20 at 8 p.m. Don’t miss these talented musicians performing Americana, blues, jazz and rock. With five CDs under their belt, the Ben Daniels Band has toured notable venues throughout Michigan, New York City, Washington D.C. and Nashville. Be there as Ben Daniels, the son of actor Jeff Daniels, and his group keep the party hopping all night long. Tickets are on sale now for $15 each. Home Expo returns in March

Canton’s annual Home Improvement Expo will be held Saturday, March 5 from 9 am - 5 pm and Sunday, March 6 from 10 am - 3 pm at the Summit on the Park. At the Expo, do-it-yourselfers will find more than 100 exhibitors ready to give tips and information on a wide range of home improvement topics such as pools, decks, kitchens and much more.

The Expo is free to the public and focuses on home modernization, environmentally friendly home improvement projects, new products and landscaping ideas. How-to workshops will be held all weekend on a variety of topics from landscaping to new product lines. A hands-on children’s project center will be available for kids of all ages, and Expo goers will be able to “Ask the Inspector” how to make their homes safe and code compliant. The Expo is hosted by Canton’s Building and Inspection Services Division, the Canton Chamber of Commerce, and the Observer and Eccentric Newspapers. For more information call 734/394-5205.

Camp Fair

Wondering what to do with the kids this summer? Want to leave those electronics behind and have them experience new and exciting adventures? Camp Fair is the perfect place to come and see what Canton Leisure Services has to offer. We will have several representatives from traditional summer camps to weekly camps to summer programming all in one place. In addition, we will have fun activities for the kids. Mark your calendars!

Snowball Co-Ed Tournament and Think Spring Day

Mark your calendars for the return of these two exciting events which will be held on Saturday, February 20 at the Canton Sports Center, located at 46555 W. Michigan Avenue from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This outdoor Snowball tourney will feature the 16-inch neon “Chicago-style” softball played in the snow. Local celebrities and co-ed teams will take the field during this winter style festival featuring: music, cocktail specials and raffles throughout the event. Think Spring Day offers softball teams a chance to compete and get discounts for the upcoming 2016 softball season. Over 300 teams enjoy the double-header leagues played at Canton’s premier softball and baseball complex featuring 12 lighted fields, covered dugouts, full-service sports bar and fun competition. Youth Baseball and Softball Leagues

Greater Canton Youth Baseball and Softball Association (GCYBSA) will accept registration for its Spring 2016 season from January 10 through March 15, 2016 for girls and boys ages 4-18. Programs include, Small Ball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Kid Pitch, and Girls Softball. Girls Lacrosse League Play - New for 2016

Registration for Girls Spring Lacrosse League for 3rd – 8th grades is currently underway. Teams will play league games against other local community teams. New and experienced players are welcome. Senior Golf League now forming

Calling all senior golfers. Pheasant Run’s senior golf league is now registering players for the 2016 season. League play starts in May and runs 15 weeks. Registration is currently underway. Sign up today by calling 734/397-6460.
