Bites for the BarnArea residents are invited to gather around the table with your neighbors and enjoy delicious small plate eats from local chefs and food trucks, quench your thirst with several beer and wine options, indulge in the sounds of various performers and support local artists at Canton’s new community dinner nights, which will be held monthly throughout the summer. This al fresco dinner will be held on Tuesday, July 13 from 6-8 p.m. at Preservation Park, at 500 N. Ridge Road. Table registrations and payment is required in advance. Get your tickets today!
Per Person Fee: $35R/ $46 NR (tickets include 4-5 small plates; beer and wine sold separately). Please note: Tables will be configured for 8 individuals. To be seated at the same table, participants must register together on the same transaction. Seating assignments and priority seating is determined by registration date on a first-come, first serve basis. This inaugural event will highlight "SUNDAY BRUNCH,” featuring: Great Lakes Confections - Mini Donuts; Truckin Waffles - Chick'n & Waffles; Grace Savory and Sweet - Breakfast Scramble; Tapped - Avocado Toast; Meltdown Creamery - Ice Cream Dessert; and Maraschinos Pub - Beer and Wine (additional fee). Thursday Night LIVE Concert SeriesNothing says summer more than free outdoor concerts at the Heritage Park Amphitheater! This year’s Thursday Night Live Concert Series, sponsored by Canton Community Financial, return to Heritage Park, located behind 1150 S. Canton Center Road, and will include: a variety of weekly food trucks; a Beer and Wine Garden sponsored by Maraschino's Pub, with 100% of sales going to Second Chance At Life – a local non-profit group that helps Michigan families with medical transplant costs; and more!. These outdoor events run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday evenings through August 12 with performances live onstage from 7:00-8:30 p.m. Please note: NO concert will be held on July 1st. The rest of the summer schedule includes: July 8: The Oneders - The World’s Best One Hit Wonders; July 15: Kari Holmes – Country Favorites; July 22: The Third Degree - Rock Hits; and July 29: JOVI - Bon Jovi Tribute, and more! Tuesdays Are Terrific Concert SeriesThis summer, come Rock Out at these FREE concerts, sponsored by Community Financial Credit Union. Meet your friends and neighbors for an afternoon of music, food and fun at the Heritage Park Amphitheater from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesdays from July 13 - August 10. All ages welcome to attend. Additional support provided by these generous partners: Canton Public Library, Busch’s Fresh Food Market, and Kona Ice. All concerts are weather dependent. Family Movie Camp Out Returns To Independence ParkArea residents are invited to celebrate the great outdoors and ‘camp out’ during this popular summer event on Friday, July 16, which will also feature the animated movie, “The Croods: A New Age” (Rated PG) at dusk. Plenty of fun activities will be available before the movie including games and entertainment for the entire family beginning at 6 p.m. Pre-registration is required. To participate in this overnight activity, a $25 per tent fee must be paid in advance online. Set up begins on Friday, July 16 at 4 p.m. Tents and RV’s are both welcome. Please note, no electricity or RV hookups will be available. For those not staying the night, there is a $7 per person wristband pre-registration fee to take part in the evening’s activities. Dinner and concession items will be sold Friday evening, as well as breakfast items on Saturday morning. Ridge Road, the Farmers Market takes place every Sunday from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. rain or shine, until October 17. Please note: The Farmers Market will NOT be open on Sunday, July 4th. 7th Annual Rally on Ridge at New Location
Enjoy plenty of local eats and music at the 7th Annual Rally on Ridge event, which will be held on Saturday, July 24, from 4 - 9 p.m. as food trucks will line Ridge Road between Uptown Avenue and Cherry Hill Road. All ages are encouraged to join us for this special fundraiser that will benefit the Canton Farmers Market. Canton’s Pride OUTsideCanton Township is celebrating PRIDE month with a special LGBTQ+ Pride OUTside event that will take place on Friday, July 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Park Amphitheater, located behind the Canton Administration Building at 1150 S. Become A Junior Park ProCanton Leisure Services invites area children to become an official Canton Junior Park Pro this summer just by touring 10 local parks, snapping a fun action photo, and sharing their experiences. Participants are encouraged to explore Canton’s neighborhood parks now through August 31, to earn a customized pin for each location visited. Becoming a Junior Park Pro is as easy as one, two, three! 1) Visit a Canton Park. 2) Take a picture. 3) Email the fun photo, along with the participant’s address to laura.mortier@canton-mi.org to earn a pin! All ages are welcome to participate in this free park program. After you visit each park and submit your photo you will earn a customized park pin that will be mailed to you. Visit five parks and earn a Canton Lanyard to collect your pins on. Visit all 10 and receive Junior Park Pro Status with a certificate and special pin to complete your collection. Village Theater Call For Artists The Gallery@VT would once again like to invite area artists to apply for a group or solo art exhibition for the 2022 season. The Village Theater is interested in featuring a diverse group of artists of all mediums. Submission will be juried by an exhibition committee comprised of local artists, arts professionals, and art educators. Please be advised that you are ineligible if you have had a Solo Exhibition at the Gallery@VT within the last 5 years. Submissions are due by July 30, 2021. Help Keep The Dream Alive The Partnership for the Arts and Humanities will be holding a hybrid in person/virtual fundraiser “An Evening for the Arts” on July 29th at Canton’s Village Theater at Cherry Hill. All of the proceeds from this fundraiser will go to support the Village Arts Factory. For those who would like to attend in person, the evening will include a strolling dinner, live entertainment and an exciting array of silent auction items. There are a limited number of tickets available for the in-person experience at $75 each. If you would like to also attend the after glow party at Marachino’s Pub, you would need to purchase the next level tickets at $100 each. For art supporters who are not yet ready to venture out, you can still get in on the fun online. Tickets for the virtual experience are $25 each and include a link to view the on-stage entertainment performed that night, and to place bids in the online auction.
