Historic Cady-Boyer Barn Destroyed By Fire Memorial Day Weekend As many of you may already be aware, this past Sunday there was a fire at the Cady-Boyer Barn in Preservation Park, which is the home of the Canton Farmers Market. We are so very thankful that no one was injured, but unfortunately, the entire barn structure was lost.
At present, we anticipate being able to host this Sunday’s Farmers Market as usual, with limited impact or disruption to any of our Market amenities. We expect most of our vendors to be present, as they rely on our Farmers Market as a critical part of their livelihood.
The cause of this unfortunate fire remains under investigation at this time. The site of the Cady-Boyer Barn will be fenced off until fire officials conclude their investigation and the debris can then be removed. In addition, Pavilion restrooms will not be available; however, a porta john will be available onsite. Discussions regarding future replacement options have begun but no definitive decisions have been made at this time. For additional information, visit www.canton-mi.org/130.
