This epic battle is set to take place on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at The Village Theater at Cherry Hill, located at 50400 Cherry Hill Road.
Contestants can register individually for $10 or as a group for $15, which is payable with exact change at the Summit Front Desk now through April 1, 2016 at 5 p.m. At least one person in your group must live within Canton, MI, in order to enter the contest. This competition is for amateur performers only. No professional groups are allowed to perform. Only the first 30 acts to sign up will perform.
All ages are invited to compete. Participants are asked to prepare two songs that they will perform in front of a live audience. Only the first 90 seconds of the song will be played and then faded out. All songs, performances, and costumes must be in good taste and expletive-free. This is a family event for all ages. Any performance perceived to be done in “poor taste” will be interrupted and that performer will be immediately disqualified.
Registration forms and music CD’s must be turned in to the Summit on the Park - ATTN: Laura Mortier, by April 1, 2016 at 5 pm. Groups and individuals must supply their own CD in good condition for their performance, which will be returned.
Contestants will be judged on: lip sync abilities; creativity on how original and imaginative the performance is; and stage presence and choreography.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners - $200 for the best group and $100 for the top solo act. Event information and registration applications can be found at www.cantonfun.org.
Tickets to the show are $5 and can be purchased online at www.cantonvillagetheater.org or at the door. All ticket proceeds will go to the Youth Advisory Council Endowment Fund, which grants money to local youth organizations.
