[ARCHIVED] Fatal crash update

October 7, 2022, Canton, MI - The victim killed in this crash has been identified as 56-year old Timothy Sean Rodgers, of Canton.  Rodgers was a Navy veteran.  


October 7, 2022, Canton, MI – Yesterday, 47-year old Lavina Flamer was arraigned 35th District Court on one count of Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Causing Death, a 15-year felony, and one count of Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident – When at Fault – Resulting in Death, a 15-year felony.

Judge Gerou set Flamer’s bond at $5,000; her next court date is scheduled for October 14, 2022.


Original Release – Accident Investigation

October 3, 2022, Canton, MI – At approximately 8:45 p.m., Canton Police were dispatched to the area of Michigan Avenue and I-275 for a single-car pedestrian crash. A 56-year-old Wayne resident was crossing the eastbound lanes of Michigan Avenue near I-275. The pedestrian was fatally struck by an oncoming vehicle which returned to the scene.

The Canton Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team was called in to investigate. Eastbound Michigan Avenue between I-275 and Hannan road was closed but is now open. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
