[ARCHIVED] Canton’s Village Theater to Exhibit “Holes in the Wall: A Visual Celebration of Iconic Diners & Rest

The Village Theater at Cherry Hill is pleased to present “Holes in the Wall: A Visual Celebration of Iconic Diners & Restaurants in Metro Detroit”, a collaboration of five Detroit area photographers and seven interpretative artists showcasing some of Metro Detroit’s most iconic dining establishments.  Over 40 images covering eight different Detroit restaurants will be on display from February 1-27, 2019 in the Gallery@VT, along with interpretations of several of those images by a talented group of Detroit-area artists presenting in paintings and ceramics.

Photographers participating in the exhibit, include: Jim Aho, Michael Kearney, Glenn Kujansuu, Danny Rebb, and Tim Tonachella.  Interpreting Artists include: Barb Gibson, Elizabeth Gullikson, Joe Hosler, Jon Lange, Jack Noremac, Sharlene Welton, and Carrie Care Wheeler.

This artistic collection began over a period of several months in 2018, when five Detroit-area photographers ventured out into the world of some of our most iconic “Holes in the Wall” diners and restaurants to capture their essence in photographs. A term of affection, "Holes in the Wall," references those special destinations where hot food is served in a more personal, non-corporate atmosphere, where the conversations are casual and friendly and sometimes passionate.

Featured diners and restaurants include: Farmer's Restaurant – Detroit; Becky's Nip 'N Tuck Diner – Berkley; Greene's Hamburgers - Farmington Hills; Scotty Simpson's Fish and Chips – Detroit; Duly's Place – Detroit; Hygrade Deli – Detroit; Bates Hamburgers – Livonia; and Red Hots Coney Island - Highland Park.

This current art exhibit is free and open to the public: Monday – Friday 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., one hour prior to and during public performances at the theater, as well as by appointment.  The Gallyer@VT  is closed on holidays.
